Test Harness 2000 - Datacom Testing This module of the Test Harness is used to drive recorded online transactions back through the modified programs to ensure that the same results are obtained. Note that this module provides essentially the same capabilities as conventional datacom testing utilities like Compuware's Playback or QAHiperstation, but allows the use of the captured screens from business rule and I/O testing. Key Benefits
Capture Process No new capture is run for Datacom Replay Testing. Instead, the capture files from Business Rule Testing and I/O Testing are processed to yield screens input to and output from the online programs. These screens are organized in temporal sequence in the extracted Datacom Capture File. Note that, like I/O Testing, the operational data store must be secured and converted to the target platform before running Datacom Replay. Replay Instrumentation and Execution Replay instrumentation is applied only to the extent necessary to pass the screen data to and from the driver program. In a CICS environment, the primary instrumentation is to the RECEIVE MAP and SEND MAP instructions. Like multi-threaded I/O Testing, Datacom Replay runs from a driver program that feeds the extracted screen images (single-threaded) through the target TP monitor to the programs under test. Also like multi-threaded I/O Testing, all programs must be captured as a set, and all replayed as a set, coordinated with the conversion of the operational data store into the target database.
